Everyone know Singapore is famous for Attractions and food, but it is also well known for shopping. Some of the world famous brands are available and also fancy small stuffs.Totally a Shopper’s Destination as well.
The fashion street is undoubtedly is Orchard Road which hosts some of the best stores. The legendary Tangs right on Orchard Road which was established in 1932. For many locales and patrons, TANGS is regarded as a one Stop shopping destination in the city, comparable to Bloomingdales in New York and Selfridges in London. Bobo. Its a landmark by itself.
This is a flagship store in Orchard Road is today one of the most vibrant shopping districts in Southeast Asia, and much of this is credited to the early presence of TANGS. Being one of the biggest stores in Orchard Road, it is a landmark with its Chinese styled roof.
Tangs offers a unique Store Tour and a Personal Shopper service on weekdays and non-sale periods for customer who are in an hurry and this is the easiest mode of shopping.
You need to make a reservation on their hotline number, a personal shopper will have all different apparels in your measurement ready with various products that you want to check out and you can decide it in one glance rather than going around the store and shopping for 3-4 hours.Tangs also offers you to hire a personal changing lounge for a small time where you and your friends can just lay back and relax while each of you try out your favorite clothes and show off to your friends.
Tangs also has the Elephant Parade products from Thailand where the proceeding of the same goes towards Elephant orphanage in Thailand. All the Elephants are produced and hand-painted in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Each replica is part of an exclusive limited edition and is unique.
We also visited the Chinatown where you had small streets with pop up stores on all sides of the road and i am sure you just can’t ignore it.Very interesting and fascinating stuffs were available for purchase starting from petty junkets to electronics, gadgets and apparels as well.
We also had the privilege of visiting the Keepers which is the Singapore Design Collective. This was a collaborative showcase of designers and artisans from diverse disciplines designed to give consumers access to the creative and development process of Singapore’s designers and artisans under a single roof.
The Showcase included fashion, accessories, furniture, homeware, perfume and of course, food and beverage. The designers was so damn talented with such innovative designs and the intricate details that goes behind it.
We interacted with designers who make apparels that have multiple uses and also perfumes that reminds you of locations/destinations.
Also as all indians would know, The Famous Shopping destination under the sun is Mustafa which is 24 hours and is located in Little India with hundreds of people bustling the stores all the time.
To sum up my experience on shopping, Singapore offers somethings for each and everyone.
A special thanks to Singapore Tourism Board and Tigerair for their invitation to visit Singapore on occasion of it’s 50th anniversary!
