Shang Palace : The youngest Award Winning Restaurant

One of the Newest Hotel in Bangalore that has opened doors recently is Shangrila Bengaluru.Just being couple of months old,it is truly a feat for a restaurant like Shang Palace to win the coveted “Times Food and NightLife awards 2016” in Bengaluru for the Best Chinese Fine Dining Restaurant Category on Dec 11th 2015.The award truly speaks volumes about the place and my experience was nothing less than magic as well.

Shang Palace is Shangri-La’s signature Chinese restaurant located on level 3 which offers authentic Chinese, Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine by the finest chefs and it has indoor and outdoor seating as well and also exclusive private dining rooms as well that makes this place perfect for all occasion be it a secluded private dinner or personal gathering with family and friends.It is Bengaluru’s first of its kind, catering up to 12 guests.The guests are greeted by their host for the night and led to a room with a sofa area, powder room and pantry.

As i entered the 3rd floor from the lift and had to walk quite a bit to reach the restaurant that builds your appetite.The restaurant’s design and ambience blends with a rich and vibrant Chinese heritage.Shang Palace boasts a modern and vibrant design with strong Chinese design elements; stone carvings and gold and silver leaf, pearl, rock crystals, marble and vases all come together to compliment the Chinese layout of private dining rooms, semi-private dining spaces and a main dining area.

I really liked the Private dinner area,we were well greeted and seated around the gleaming round table which an traditional golden plates with chopsticks.We had a set menu ready to be served with the best of Shang palace Signature dishes.

We started with some nice appetizer like Chinese Cucumber Salad for vegetarians and Chongqing Chill Chicken and Roasted Crispy pork belly for the non vegetarians.

I had the veg hot and sour soup that was pretty flavourful with lemongrass and vegetable broth.For the weather it was apt.

The dimsums were served which was pan fried mushroom bun for veg and prawn hargaw for non veg.

For non vegetarians,the famous Roasted Beijing duck was served and my fellow bloggers relished it to the core.The hunan style Steamed Fish, Gong Bao Prawns and Yangzhou Fried rice.

For me, the vegetarian options were good enough for a perfect Chinese meal.Mapo Tofu vegetarian, Stir Fried Chinese greens,Veg Fried rice.I loved the mapo tofu what was well made and loved the taste.

The climax was the almond jelly with cinnamon ice cream and it was good.
